Most of our property behind the house is a very large steep hill. The solar arrays are mounted on pole-top mounts at the top of the hill. In this photo they are facing west. The arrays are able to swivel from facing due east in the morning, to due south mid day, to due west in the late afternoon and everywhere in between. The are moved manually. We could have chosen to have them mounted on active or passive sun tracking devices. However, this would have added greatly to the expense of the project and those devices do tend to break. Tracking devices do not work so well in windy locations and we get extremely strong winds up there.
