Impact
Many people ask "when will the system pay for itself?". The answer is not simple. They will eventually pay for themselves in a literal way, maybe 15 years from now. However, as far as we're concerned, they already have. By installing this system we are eliminating 3,850 lbs. of CO2 emissions from the planet each year. We installed the system because of the environmental crisis, not because of the power crisis in California. We consider the environmental crisis to be much more serious than the power crisis. We like to look at it this way; we could have given $9,000 (the end cost of the system) to an environmental group like the Audobon Society, the National Geographic Society or Greenpeace. All of these organizations do great things for the environment. We chose to invest directly in the environment by eliminating pollutants in our air, in our water, and on our land. An added benefit is that the power crisis will not effect us as much as it would have without the system, because we will not lose all of our power in a rolling blackout. Some people would put that $9,000 towards a luxury car. When will a $50,000 Lexus pay off? Some people would put that $9,000 towards a backyard pool. When will that pay off?
